A Thanksgiving weekend in Vienna

We ventured to Vienna, Austria on Thanksgiving weekend for sightseeing and Christmas Market viewing with our friends Nancy, Greg, Ashley, and Steve.  It is strange being outside of the US at Thanksgiving, obviously you don't see the massive turkeys or stuffing ingredients in the grocery store or all of the decorations.

First stop was the famous cathedral and we took a catacombs tour (no pictures allowed), but here are a few of the cathedral:

I love the quaint streets!

Enjoying a drink before dinner at the hotel
That evening we put on our "fancy pants/dresses" and headed for the Mayerling ballet at the state opera house!
A little pre-dinner coffee in the cafe adjoining the opera house

We had fantastic box seats just to the side of the stage:

I can't believe Italy doesn't have an espresso cart!

Vienna was a great long weekend trip. I highly recommend visiting at Christmas time so you can soak up the many Christmas markets across the city.  Wonderful time with wonderful friends!  My only regret is I forgot to get a group picture.  :-)
