Well this post is a little behind, but better late then never, right? At the end of March we ventured down to Piemonte Wine Country with friends Greg and Nancy Shoup. I am just amazed that wine country is only 1.5 hours from here with breathtaking views, and fantastic wine! I am afraid that by the time I leave Italy I am going to be a <gasp> wine snob ;-)
We started out Friday evening by checking into our Hotel in Monforte d'Alba, which was a historical renovated home in a mid evil decor and the detail was amazing! Usually I don't post so many pictures about the hotel, but this one deserved a little attention.

Ok! I am done showing off the hotel! Now onto the other good stuff like this like food and wine:
The first night we stopped at a local restaurant and partook in a Chef's choice meal. I love how you can walk into a restaurant in Italy and get a chefs choice dinner Italian style. What the means is you can tell them if you have allergies or if there is something particular you don't like and they will keep bringing courses until you cry uncle and you don't know what is coming!
Our first stop was at a winery called Malvira, however we got mildly lost in typical Italian Fashion. That means the GPS kind of takes you to where you need to go, but not actually. It was a nice surprise, because it gave us excellent photo opportunities!
Finally we made it to our tasting at Malvira and had a nice tour of the cellar.

Our second stop was at E. Pira & Figli
